Dr. JayAnna Byrd grew up in Rusk, Texas. After graduating as valedictorian from Rusk High School, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated in the top 5% of her class with highest honors, summa cum laude. Dr Byrd was elected by the Dean to serve on the Academic Committee during her last two years, was awarded Letters of Clinical Excellence while in her training, and received a national contact lens award during her final year. Dr. Byrd took part in caring for patients inside Neuro-optometric Rehabilitation Service, a clinic dedicated to post-stroke patients and those with traumatic brain injuries. She also conducted dry eye exams in the state-of-the-art Dry Eye Center in Houston.
Dr. Byrd is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. She is thrilled to be practicing in her native East Texas community.
